4 days old...

Our little girl is 4 days old! While we know she's constantly growing, we are still in awe of how tiny and beautiful she is. Jarod took this picture of her laying on our queen bed today to give some perspective on size.
We had our first doctor appointment today and she had already gained an ounce from her hospital discharge weight. That's our little eater! Now we just need her to figure out that you sleep at nighttime and stay awake during the day!
Thanks for all the calls, e-mails and cards. We can't wait for her to meet you all...

She's perfect. I was telling Jarod, Simone had her days and nights mixed up too and we struggled the first 2 weeks (then it was Colic but sweet Elizabeth won't do that). What I found to be best for her (totally unsolicited) was to keep all the lights on during the day. We danced, we sang, we had music on and tried to keep her awake. ESPECIALLY afternoon hours. Then in the evening when we were ready to start her "bedtime" we would bathe (washcloth was too), massage her with lotion, dress her in new warm clothes, swaddle (GASP--neither of mine have kicked the bucket yet) and then rock her as we played lullabies and sang to her in the dark. It wasn't an instant switch but she got the idea. We can't wait to meet her. Keep your eyes open for some drawings for Elizabeth and both your offices. They went out today!

Awww... Congrats to you both. She is adorable. What an exciting and special time for you all. I love the picture of her in the hospital with her eyes open. She is beautiful. We are so happy for you all. Isn't amazing to love what you guys created. It such a special bond. It's a feeling you can't describe until it happens to you. Soak it all in. The house chores can wait. They grow so fast. Hang in there with the sleep thing. You guys will find your own routine and what works for you. My advice though is to take whatever help is offered and take a break. Even a shower without interruptions is nice:)
Can't wait to meet her. Definetly call us if you come home for the holidays. Mason would love to see her. Congrats Again!!
Love, Danielle, Jason, and Mason
